Dear Rider,
My emphasis in schooling both horse and rider is to provide a positive learning environment with a calm-assertive approach to horsemanship.  My desire is for students to grow and enhance their horsemanship skills while their horses learn respect and obedience without fear.  I'm excited to share what I’ve learned throughout my years of training and experience and well as new skills that continue to expand my riding, teaching, and training capabilities.  Every riding and teaching session is a learning opportunity for the student, horse, and instructor.
My lifelong passion for riding and training horses began as a young child.  Growing up in the Rocky Mountains of Montana I was involved in 4-H and open shows of various disciplines: english, western, halter, and even sidesaddle, extensive trail riding, and competitive trail riding.  Training horses was always of interest to me, and when I was 13 years old, I trained my first horse - from birth to show ring.
As a young adult, my interests led me toward dressage training and showing.  I was fortunate enough to receive consistent, quality instruction from top instructors and clinicians such as Judy Thocher, Sue Conners, the late Kim Von Hopffgarten, Henrik Johansen, and Ulla Boysen.   Always a fan of the thoroughbred breed, I purchased my first off-the-track thoroughbred, a 10 year old gelding that had been raced through age 9, and retrained him for a successful career in dressage.  Over the years I've had the pleasure of working with my many of own horses, as well as clients and their horses.  Watching the skill and horsemanship of clients grow, and the development and capabilities of their horses improve, is something I thoroughly enjoy and cherish as an instructor.
If you're wondering what dressage "is", it is the progression/advancement of horse training which guides both horse and rider through “levels” of development using a firmly grounded training scale.  Each level of the training scale is a building block which prepares the horse and rider for the next level.  The history of dressage dates back more than 2000 years when the primary emphasis was to train cavalry mounts to perform difficult, balanced, specific movements which would outperform the enemy on the battlefield.  Today dressage is a world-wide recognized Olympic sport, with national and international membership and competition, dedicated to the systematic, athletic development of the horse and rider as a team.
My goals as a rider, instructor, and trainer are to continue developing my dressage education utilizing clinics, symposiums, written and visual materials, continue to progress the training of my own horses and horses in training, and to share my knowledge and experience with my clients.
Please feel free to contact me if you need additional information. Thank you for your interest.

Sincerely,
Robyn
